NBD: G&L Tribute JB in Lake Placid Blue
New Bass Day! Picked up this G&L Tribute JB in Lake Placid Blue at Crossroads Music in Port Townsend, WA. Thanks to Sara for letting me spend the afternoon checking out the bass with my recording equipment and pedals.
I have 2 Spector basses; a NS-2A and 5XL both with LHZ-2 HazLabs preamp clones. 2 Precisions; a Frankenstein and a Riggio Papa Bass (on loan from Jarod Owen). A Hohner B Bass, a Stagg EUB and a Kala U-Bass. But didn’t have a Jazz Bass in my collection until now. Thank you Crossroads Music so much for the beautiful bass! The tone was exactly what I was hoping for. I love the body color and block inlays in the Rosewood neck.
The signal chain is TC Electronic Spectra Comp, SansAmp Bass Driver DI v1 to my Midas MR18 mixer to MacBook.
Original live performance from the Band Name Hollow, 2023 Reunion San Francisco celebration at Redwood City Elks Lodge, CA on September 30, 2023.

New Music Project
I’ve started a new worship music project with my good friend and music partner Melanie Sturgeon. These are the first of many music videos which will feature us trading leads and harmonizing. I’ll be playing most of the instruments, but won’t be showing them all on screen at the same time as in past videos. It’s a lot of work and a lot of the time I’m not always playing them in one take. We’ll have guests like Nate Christensen on guitar join in on the recordings. My hope is to release 1-2 videos a month and we’ll be doing some location recordings and different venues. Enjoy!
A little video that could…
I’m amazed on which videos gain traction on Youtube. At the time of this posting my most viewed video is the virtual choir project I did for Seattle Children’s Chorus in early 2021 with 23K views. The 2nd most was ‘Goodness of God’ for Community Christian Fellowship at 5K views.
This video ‘I Have Decided to Follow Jesus / I Surrender All’ I did with Melanie and Evan back in late 2020 was one of the several virtual worship videos we did when a lot of churches were not meeting in person and services where pre-recorded or streamed live online. I had reposted many of the combined videos as individual songs. Some of them have newer mixes from the original postings, but this one seems to be gaining views at 1.4k views. I’m ever grateful for the response this little known Youtube channel gets. Blessings to you all.
